Large Kangxi Charger - Documented Museum Exhibit
Large Kangxi Blue & White Charger - Documented Museum Exhibit This is the actual dish exhibited at the Exhibition of Chinese Blue and White Ceramics by the South East Asian Ceramics Society at the National Museum of Singapore in April 1978. It was made during the early Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period (1662 - 1722). The book, "Chinese Blue & White Ceramics" by S. T. Yeo & Jean Martin, details all exhibits and this Kangxi dish is shown on page 243 (see pictures below). To quote from that book; "Large Dish, decorated inside with an all over pattern of two dragons chasing a pearl, white on blue. The outside decorated with four of the "Eight Treasures"." The SEACS sticker with the exhibit number, 283, still remains on the underneath of the dish. A rare item once exhibited in a national museum ! Diameter approx. 15.25 inches (39 cm). Minor wear and damage to the rim (as can also be seen in the pictures in the book), and some defect to the glaze resulting from debris in the kiln during firing.
